Tagging

Tagging is something which could obviously prove very useful, and I can see myself using Delicious if I were prepared to spend time making the necessary tags. But for now just using favourites suits me fine. Yes – I know I could lose them if the computer crashed. But in the end Delicious has ‘disappeared’ which is as good/bad as the computer crashing.
I can see great applications for tagging in the school library environment in particular. All those regular subjects and projects could be ‘indexed’, making life much easier for the teacher librarian to retrieve sites and add to them.

Chamberlain Gorge

We hired a boat to get up this gorge. No swimming - crocs around.

On a heavier note, Wikis was my learning task this week. Well that I can see some application for internally for the libraries. Among other things, it would be a great place for procedure manuals. I belong to a cooking ‘club’ which meets monthly and we spend the day cooking around a theme such as preserves, pasta, Christmas goodies etc. I did think starting a Wiki for the group could be useful as we planned each session, and we could keep a record of what we had made, the recipes, photos etc. And who knows, I might get around to doing it one day!

Emma Gorge

Managed to insert a photo - unrelated from Flickr at last

This is Emma Gorge, one of the many gorges we hiked up. Had a lovely cooling dip on the pool at the end.

Done my RSS Feed session today. Wasn't as confusing as I expected, going by some of the other participants' comments. Have subscribed to Jamie Oliver's blog, a readers advisory blog, the Learning 2.0 Basics blog, and a couple of ABC ones relating to health and lifestyle. Yet to be seen how much use I actually make of them. The video says RSS feeding is a time saver. As far as I can see it could easily take up hours of time not previously spent before subscribing.
Here are links to a couple of articles I did read from my RSS feeds

Hidden Valley

How about this site for a wedding? Well this is  where my niece is getting married next year. So we will be off to Kununurra again next year.
Mirima National Park is often referred to as Hidden Valley and sometimes as the Mini Bungle Bungles. They are quite special and being so close to Kununurra, easy to get to. We even cycled out there one day. You also get good panoramic views of the townsite from the top.
Tried putting this photo on using Flickr, and I tell you I am over it. Slow connections from home make it unbelievably frustrating, quite apart from the fact every photo I tried to download wasn't available for some reason or other.

Kimberley and my second attempt at blogging

My Finnish friend Tulla and I had long held a dream to travel together to the Kimberley region in Western Australia. In June 2010 we realised the dream. Together with my husband John and Tiina's friend Artuu, we hired a four wheel drive and tried to cram in as much of the essence of the Kimberley as possible in just two weeks. We spent the first day or so in Kununurra checking out the surrounds and acclimatising - very necessary for the two Finns.
This is me with Tulla and Artuu resting whilst walking in the Mirima National Park on the outskirts of Kununurra.
